We are thrilled to extend a heartfelt welcome to you and your loved ones as we prepare to gather for our 2025 Ramadi 20-Year Reunion. Two decades have passed since we stood together in the heart of Ramadi, facing the challenges and forging the bonds that define us. This reunion is more than just a gathering; it's a chance to reconnect, to share stories, and to honor the shared experience that has shaped our lives.
As we gather, we also celebrate the momentous 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, a legacy we are all a part of. We look forward to seeing you in Arlington, where we will remember, reflect, and celebrate the enduring brotherhood of 1/5 and the proud tradition of the United States Marine Corps. Get ready to rekindle friendships and create new memories that will last a lifetime.
The purpose of our 2025 Ramadi 20-Year Reunion is to commemorate the extraordinary service and sacrifice of 1st Battalion 5th Marines during our deployment to Ramadi, Iraq, in 2005, and the Operation Iraqi Freedom campaigns. This reunion holds profound significance as it marks two decades since we faced the intense challenges of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a period that tested our courage, resilience, and camaraderie.
Adding to this, 2025 also marks the momentous 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps. As we reflect on our shared experiences in Ramadi, we also celebrate the rich history and enduring legacy of our Corps, a legacy we are proud to be a part of.
Deployed for our third tour in support of OIF, we were tasked with the daunting mission of securing and stabilizing the volatile city of Ramadi. From conducting combat patrols and raids to executing cordon and knock missions and implementing snap checkpoints, our actions were pivotal in the counterinsurgency efforts. We confronted the harsh realities of combat, disrupted insurgent operations, and worked tirelessly to safeguard the local population.
This reunion provides a unique opportunity to reflect on those pivotal months in Ramadi, to honor the memories of our fallen brothers who served during OIF I, OIF II, and to celebrate the unbreakable bonds we formed on the battlefields. It is a time to acknowledge the profound impact of our shared experiences, particularly within the context of Ramadi and the broader OIF campaigns, and to reaffirm the enduring brotherhood of 1/5. By gathering once again, we pay tribute to our collective strength, resilience, and the lasting legacy of our service in Ramadi during Operation Iraqi Freedom, while also honoring the 250 years of Marine Corps tradition.
